"I
won't be happy until we have every boy in America
between the ages of six and sixteen wearing
a glove and swinging a bat" (Babe Ruth).
Lessons
in life are many times learned on a ball field.
"My
motto was always to keep swinging. Whether I
was in a slump or feeling badly or having trouble
off the field, the only thing to do was keep
swinging" (Hank Aaron).
"Set
your goals high, and don't stop till you get
there"
(Bo Jackson).
Keep
swinging and don't stop 'til you reach your
goals....all good lessons obviously learned
by the 2005 Desoto Cardinals 8U Team as they
head to the World Series as Mississippi State
Champions. The Cards won the State Championship
with a 11-2 victory over the Mississippi Mustangs.
Previous 2005 tournament wins include the Memorial
Day Bash, Mayor's Cup Championship, SOSA Big
Barrel Classic, Trugreen Fields Challenge Cup,
Southaven Shootout, April Fools Classic, Mudcats
Easter Classic and the Mudcats Early Bird Classic.
The Cards (53-6) continue to march toward their
goal of winning the USSSA 8U World Series held
July 11-16 in Sulphur, Louisiana. Cornerstone
Systems, a "Double Play" sponsor,
proudly supports the 8U team (8 years and under)
and Coach Chris Haberstroh (M&M Productions).
The crack of the bat, the roar of the crowd,
the umpire shouting "Play Ball", a
favorite leather glove....classic memories born
in the youth of little league baseball. Dedication,
commitment, teamwork and sportsmanship....classic
lessons learned by the youth of little league
baseball.
