Community Involvement - Cornerstone Supports St. Jude by Roping Chickens
Supporting St. Jude Children's Research Hospital would be a natural thought since both St. Judes's and Cornerstone Systems are headquartered in Memphis, Tennessee. But Jim Chaltas (Memphis sales) took it one step further by donating funds on behalf of Cornerstone to the "Midyett Springs 4th Annual Chickin Ropin Contest" held May 28th in Deberry, Texas. You read correctly, we said chicken roping..... Two opposing team members are placed in a pen with a chicken and try to toss shoestrings over their heads and feet. The fastest "roper" wins. The funds raised are then split with half going to the winner and half to St. Jude. The chickens are not harmed and more importantly they are returned to their homes avoiding the barbeque grills that later serve the cookout buffet to the massive crowds. A silent auction, balloon jump, train rides and a live band all contribute to a festive day. Cornerstone's donation, coordinated through Carthage Cup (Jim's customer), will help St. Jude in their fight against childhood cancer and catastrophic childhood diseases

St. Jude is the only pediatric research center where families never pay for treatment not covered by insurance, and families without insurance are never asked to pay. Since its inception, St. Jude has developed protocols that have brought survival rates for childhood cancers from less than 20 percent to about 70 percent overall.
