Cornerstone returned again this year as a proud “Silver” sponsor for the 5th Annual DeNeuville Charity Golf Classic. Held at North Creek golf course on September 7, 2007, the event raised more than $25,000, their best year yet. In spite of the rainy weather, enthusiastic golfers, volunteers and sponsors turned out in groves to play golf, grill out and raise money benefiting the DeNeuville Learning Center for Women in Memphis, TN. Cornerstone assisted as a sponsor but also with manpower as Sheryl Barton (Cornerstone Memphis) worked hard behind the scenes.

The mission of the DeNeuville Learning Center is to guide women in learning the skills needed to make positive choices for themselves and their families. The DeNeuville learning staff (75% are professional volunteers) assist the Sisters for the Good Shepherd with this mission. The student population consists of women from diverse countries, cultures and backgrounds. DeNeuville offers classes in computer hardware and software, GED, English as a second language, business skills, parenting, and arts and crafts. In addition, DeNeuville also provides counseling services and assists women with childcare, transportation, and emergency needs.
