Warrants
were issued and police dispatched. A small crowd
gathered as the paddy wagons arrived on November
16 to lead them away. The two were processed,
shackled, photographed and jailed. Smiling ear-to-ear
and proudly wearing the standard-issue black/white
striped uniforms were our very own Sharon Stanfill
and Sarina Rodriguez (Cornerstone - Brea, California).
The MDA "Lock-Up" was in full swing
and the real work of raising "bail"
was now at hand. Surpassing their personal goal
of $1200, they worked together raising $2489
for Muscular Dystrophy, the highest amount among
all participants. Proudly rallying to assist
with "bail", Cornerstone wholeheartedly
sponsored, contributed and supported their efforts.
Released for "good behavior", Sharon
and Sarina are now back at work looking forward
to their next "arrest" and opportunity
to help their community.
The Muscular Dystrophy Association is a voluntary
health agency — a dedicated partnership
between scientists and concerned citizens aimed
at conquering neuromuscular diseases that affect
more than a million Americans. MDA combats neuromuscular
diseases through programs of worldwide research,
comprehensive medical and community services,
and far-reaching professional and public health
education.
