The
Virginia Motorsports Park, along with the Dinwiddie
American Legion Post 149, sponsored a day at
the races Saturday, June 17 for six veterans
from Maguire Veterans Administration Hospital’s
Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center. The
veterans had the opportunity to see dragsters,
junior dragsters and Street Boss cars, which
are muscle cars racing at speeds at 100-150mph.
Prior to the race the veterans were invited
to the starting line to be introduced to the
crowd and recognized for their service and patriotism.
They were treated to the national anthem and
a special invocation (given by our own Collis
Bryant, Cornerstone Systems- Porstmouth, VA).
Cheered on by the veterans and crowd alike,
Anna Bryant (Collis’s wife) won round
after round in their famed viper red car which
has been featured in the March 1999 issue of
High Performance Mopar and the April 2002 issue
of Mopar Muscle. Cornerstone Systems is a proud
sponsor and our logo can be seen on both quarter
panels of the race car.
“All
the time and work they put into their cars,
it really shows on the race track. It’s
amazing,” said William Wright, a Marine
veteran. Wright said he truly appreciates the
Virginia Motorsports Park sponsoring him and
his fellow veterans so that they could enjoy
a day at the racetrack. “We don’t
need recognition every day but sometimes we
like a little touch on the back and they certainly
did that today,” Wright said.
Cornerstone
proudly salutes our patriotic veterans who have
served our nation, defended our liberties and
sacrificed so much for us all.
