Jim and Jacque Wiskur (Cornerstone, Prairie Village, KS office) have been involved in animal rescue efforts for more than 30 years. So it was no surprise that they reached out to The Pet Connection, located in Mission, Kansas to donate their 1996 van when they heard the call for help. The Pet Connection is a no-kill, non-profit animal shelter located in the Kansas City Metro area. They specialize in placing abused and abandoned animals into foster care, with the ultimate goal of finding loving, safe, and permanent homes. They also provide spay/neuter services, medical aide and training to the animals before placing them in homes. “We love the van”, stated Melody Kelso, Pet Connection Executive Director, “You don’t know how great you came through for us. We sold the Pet Connection’s truck two months ago because the transmission went out. We started putting inquiries out 8 weeks ago about needing a new transport vehicle and some places offered to sell us one cheap, but we don’t have a budget for that. Thank you, thank you”. The van will be used for food/litter pick up, and animal transport to/from the shelter, for adopt-a-pet days, fund-raising events and for the overall transportation needs of the staff as it relates to their everyday schedule.
Cornerstone applauds all employees nationwide and their ongoing efforts to reach out and help their local communities. Jim and Jacque Wiskur ring bells at Christmas time to help the Salvation Army collect money, they adopt families at Christmas time providing groceries/clothes & toys for those who otherwise would have no Christmas, and now they donate a much-needed van to help abused and abandoned animals…Cornerstone is proud to call them family.
