Annual Youth Villages Soup Sunday held January
16 at the FEDEX Forum. More than 1,800 Memphis
soup-lovers attend Soup Sunday annually to taste
all-you-can-eat soups, breads, desserts, and
specialty items. More than 70 area restaurants
and food-service suppliers provide signature
dishes for the the event. Funds raised at Soup
Sunday are used on programs which help more
than 5,000 emotionally and behaviorally troubled
children each year. Programs include adoption
and therapeutic foster care, home-based counseling,
residential treatment, transitional living,
group homes, specialized crisis services and
an emergency shelter for runaway and homeless
teens. Through events such as this, Youth Village
is better able to accomplish its mission of
helping children and families live successfully.
