Community Involvement - Red Cross Tsunami Relief Effort

Stunned silence, shock and disbelief were seen and felt on a global scale as video and news clips showed the massive Tsunami waves pound Southern Asia and Eastern Africa on December 26, 2004. Caused by an earthquake off the west coast of Indonesia measuring 9.0 on the Richter scale, the tsunami waves caused massive flooding and severe damage in several countries - the heaviest wreckage occurring in Sri Lanka, India, Maldives, Indonesia and Thailand. The Red Cross, along with a multitude of organizations, sprang into immediate action to initiate an enormous relief effort to the thousands of people who were affected. Sending out a global cry for donations, the Red Cross helped lead to way to deliver aid to the people in need. Bob Cook (Innovative Logistics / Cornerstone Systems agent), proudly joined thousands of companies and individuals donating funds to supply food and safe water, immediate family supplies, mental health counseling, and healthcare and disease prevention. More than 800,000 tsunami survivors have been assisted by the World Red Cross movement.
