Community Involvement - Cornerstone Reaches Out to Many During Holiday Season

December/2006 was a very busy holiday month for many Cornerstone employees across the nation. Whether ringing Salvation Army bells, delivering gifts or collecting donations, Cornerstone employees were reaching out into their prospective communities to make a difference in someone’s life. For example…

Memphis, TN (Corporate office): Memphis employees adopted 30 children through the Youth Villages Holiday Hero Program. Youth Villages is a nonprofit organization that has developed an array of nationally recognized programs and services to troubled children and their families. Most of these children are struggling with difficult pasts and uncertain futures. Some children do not have families and would not have Christmas without this program. Once the children fill out their wish list the “heroes” go shopping. It’s unsure who has the most fun…the volunteers reviewing the wish lists, shopping, wrapping and delivering presents…or the children receiving them! Cornerstone is a proud corporate sponsor and partner of Youth Villages. www.youthvillages.org

Portsmouth, VA: Portsmouth employees adopted a single mother with a 3-year old son as well as the Portsmouth Humane Society. Gifts were hand-delivered to the very surprised mother and son bringing her to tears. “I never imagined anyone would do anything so nice for us. You all saved Christmas for us and I will never be able to thank you enough”. Employees also reached out the local Humane Society with treats, toys and cash donations. “Associates of Cornerstone, we thank you for your support in enabling the Portsmouth Humane Society to give care and comfort to all of God’s Creatures who are handed over to our charge”. www.portsmouthhumanesociety.org

Prairie Village, KS: Prairie Village employees, once again, rang bells for the Salvation Army as well as adopting a family of four. Rallying to a local radio stations plea, the employees delivered clothing, toys and various gifts to a single mother who was sick and had no hopes of providing Christmas to her 3 young children.
